25.11.2025: Stralsund – even in the far north, heat from wastewater is used for heating

In Stralsund, we installed a wastewater heat system in a DN 1000 sewer over a total length of approximately 200 metres. The Therm-Liners type B supply ten buildings: nine belong to the Stralsund housing association and one to the Brunst Weber Foundation, with a total of 151 flats. This is creating a new district in the Frankenvorstadt suburb.

What makes this project special is that ten individual, independently operable systems with a respective extraction capacity of 20 to 40 kW have been installed in the sewer. The total output is approximately 250 kW. The systems run on water with a 20% glycol admixture.

Before installation, the sewer had to be renovated. This was carried out by a canal renovation company on behalf of REWA Stralsund. Despite difficult conditions, we fought our way through the narrow pipe and successfully completed the project in October.
