13.05.2026 Maastricht, “Lively Limmel”, a model for sustainability thanks to wastewater heat!

We recently completed the “Lively Limmel” project in Maastricht. This building on Balijeweg serves as a model for modern and sustainable living: as part of a larger sustainability strategy for the Limmel district, this building with its 23 modern and spacious flats, is heated by wastewater heat (Dutch “Riothermie”). A nearby sewer supplies approximately 70 kW of heat energy as a source for the heat pumps, which thus require less electricity from the grid – significantly reducing the load on the local electricity network.

We implemented the project together with VD Kreeke, who were responsible for the connection
to the sewer system and the technical installation of the heat recovery system. UHRIG Energie supplied the Therm-Liner modules and took over supervision for installation and connection.
